Bolivia

Visa
Not needed for citizens of the Netherlands. 30 or 90 days access.

Arrival
From Chile, Paso Portezuelo del Cajón, 2016-06-11
Immigration is handled at the border, customs 80 km north. Quick process (5 min. each). Officially fruits and vegetables are not allowed, but we had hardly any car check. Very friendly immigrations officer. He asked how many days we wanted. When we said "the maximum" we got 90.

From Peru, Kasani, 2016-07-07
Smooth process. We got only 30 days, although we requested 90. For the car we got 90 days. Quick inspection. This time also a police inspection that we almost missed. Total about 30 min.

Departure
To Peru, Desaguadero border crossing, 2016-07-02
Straightforward. Took 45 min. due to long queue of pedestrians leaving the country.

Carnet
Not needed. A TIP is provided for the same time as the entry.

Insurance
Federacion Patronal Seguros S.A.

Money
ATM's accepting VISA abundant.

Diesel
Car fuel is subsidized,  therefore foreigners pay more than double of what locals pay. Many fuel stations are not allowed or are not interested to sell to foreigners and refuse. At smaller fuel stations that have no cameras installed it may be possible to negotiate a price per liter. Quality of the diesel is bad. Outside cities distances between fuel stations can be long. Qjality of diesel is poor.

Corruption
No incidents.

Roads
Varying tremendously. Parts of the Ruta de las Lagunas were the worst of our entire trip. Many main roads (for example Sucre-La Paz) are still dirt, although much construction is going on.
