Make sure that you get it, they don't always give it automatically and you have a serious problem if you don't have it when you w.ant to leave the country. You get 12 months. Passport and TIP are not linked, so you can leave the country while leaving the vehicle in Uruguay without a problem. Uruguay is the best country in South America to store a car. Our car was shipped from Namibia. It took 2 days to get it released. We used Eduardo Kessler as clearing agent. This worked really well. We heared from others that they got their vehicle cleared without an agent.
